Software Training for Mechanical Engineers, Designers & Technologists Course

The major purpose of this training package is to provide students with training in the most popular and important design software applications. It serves to upgrade students’ mechanical design skills comprehensively. Students also are given a great opportunity to update their knowledge in certain areas, such as North American Design Standards, Geometric and Dimensioning Toleracincing. Each student can customize his/her solution according to his/her education and working experience. A student in a mechanical design field can choose one or a few of the software applications to meet the real job requirements. For students who don’t have local working experience in mechanical design, they are encouraged to take a project course and apply for co-op placement. This course package offers great flexibility to accommodate student diversified skill development requirements.

Mechanical Engineering Design - Diploma

This program is designed to provide students with mechanical engineering design knowledge and skills. Student will learn or review the most important mechanical design principles, the North American design standards, state of the art design software programs that will enable students to deliver design project productively and efficiently. Most importantly, students will complete a comprehensive design project towards the end of this program which prepares students with ability to deliver a solution to a comprehensive real life design problem. Students who graduate from this program and need local working experience in mechanical design can apply for co-op placement. All the learning activities, including co-op placement will take place in the Toronto campus of the college and the companies in Greater Toronto Area.

Upon successful completion of this mechanical design diploma course students will be competent to take a position as a mechanical designer, technologist, CAD design specialist or quality inspector. It will prepare a way for foreign-educated professionals to their professional engineer designation.

Software Training for Civil Engineers, Designers & Technologists Course

This course package offers civil engineers, designer and technologist a comprehensive learning opportunity for most of the components in today's engineering practice. The software courses such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Timberline, Primavera, Civil 3D/Land Development Desktop, InRoads, STAAD Pro and Revit Architecture offer thorough knowledge that are widely used in civil, structural and architectural design and related industries. Ontario Building Code and Building Science & House Inspection are necessary for career development as a civil/structural/architectural professional. This software course package is designed to prepare students to write CNC codes manually and using MasterCAM proficiently. Students will learn one or two of the popular mechanical design software application and the design project will give them an opportunity to apply the mechanical design principles and design tools. CNC programming and MasterCAM project integrated in this course is a mechanism to develop their skills in delivering a practical solution to a production scenario. A student can choose one or few of the courses in this package according to their weaknesses that are preventing them from getting promotion or the right position as a CNC programmer, machinist or manufacturing engineer.
