Medical Office Assistant students will receive in-depth training in general medical office procedures, including scheduling appointments, patients’ records, medical file documentation, privacy act, conflict resolution and medical specialist referral procedures. Students will receive sound instruction in anatomy, physiology, medical and pharmaceutical terminology, and hands-on training in clerical skills used in a medical office. Medical transcription, medical bilingual variety computer programs are included. Students will learn how to use OHIP software for medical service reporting. Students will also complete their co-op in a hospital or clinical office environment to further develop medical office administration skills.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) course is designed to assist students to find employment at the entry level as a healthcare aid specialist. Graduates will receive a Personal Support Worker (PSW) diploma and be engaged in the daily personal care of patients of all ages in the community and in long-term care facilities. This program consists of two phases: classroom learning and practicum in a nursing facility. Upon completion of this program, a student will be able to take a position as personal support worker position in a hospital, nursing home or private home.
