Co-op and Employment Service
Metro College of Technology is among the first private career colleges to establish a dedicated department of cooperative education and career services and continue to lead the way in preparing students for real-world challenges and opportunities. Our graduate students are ready to work, with a combination of academic and real-world work experience, research knowledge and business acumens.
Cooperative Education Program
Cooperative education is at the forefront of our innovative academic programs and we are proud to be a leader in the field. The need for students to gain practical work experience in their respective discipline in addition to academic knowledge has long been recognized by the college for its tremendous value. As a result, the cooperative education program was instituted for all academic departments as an opportunity for students to obtain quality work experience that is directly related to their field of study. Since its inception, the cooperative education program at MCT has gained the endorsement of numerous companies, non-profit and government agencies throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
From the perspective of the students, the co-op participating companies, and the college, the cooperative education method has proven itself exceptionally effective in bringing together future employees and employers in a way that is beneficial to all parties. The co-op method gives students practical work experience and a preview of real-world challenges they will encounter when entering the work environment.
Career Services Program
Career Services is an important part of the student education experience at Metro College of Technology. Our goal is to provide students with a broad range of knowledge, skills and challenges to assist in all phases of career and employment development.
The Career Services program is your passport to the future. We offer in-depth and individualized attention to students seeking career direction, exploring cooperative education, job search strategies, resume and cover letter critiques, mock interviews and employment preparation and guidance. Career Services program also facilitates workshops and programs to help students make good career decisions.
Career Services program facilitates recruitment events and job fairs for students to have an opportunity to meet hiring representatives from many companies. Career Services maintains a database of current employment opportunities and consistently contacts employers to discuss vacant positions for all academic departments. Ultimately, each student is responsible for their own career direction and decision-making. By utilizing our programs, services and qualified counselors, students will learn to incorporate a multi-faceted approach to achieve their career goals.
